"Choice and Access of Durable Equipment in Medicare"

TAKE ACTION NOW

Help to Assure Choice and Access of Durable Medical
Equipment in Medicare

Under the House Medicare Prescription Drug and
Modernization Act, HR 1, there is a provision that directs
the government to pick a few major medical suppliers to
decide which products - such as diabetes supplies, oxygen
therapy, wheelchairs, and sleep surfaces - will or won't be
available to the millions of seniors and disabled Americans
who depend on Medicare. These decisions will be driven by
what's best for the bottom line - NOT what's best for
patients. Furthermore, if this legislation is enacted,
other medical equipment suppliers will disappear. This
will make this so-called competitive bidding theory anti-
competitive in practice.

Help to oppose this government-run system on behalf of the
millions of American who depend on Medicare to preserve
their healthcare choices. To take action, go to:
www.protectaccess.org There is a system that enables you
to send an email to your Members of Congress on the
website. Ask them to oppose "competitive bidding for
durable medical equipment, which is in the HR 1." We urge
you to contact your House member and two Senators. If you
have time, please call too.
