Re:  David Pfeiffer Passes On.

This note, from my colleague Megan Conway, discusses one way we are honoring
David. The RDS website is at: www.rds.hawaii.edu  Steve

all of us at the Center on Disability Studies are so very saddened by
his death. With his professional and personal history he lent something
to the Center that cannot be replaced.

During his last few months, David very enthusiastically began work as
Editor of a new journal, the Review of Disability Studies, with myself
and Steve Brown as Associate Editors. David felt strongly that the
field of disability studies, indeed to be recognized as a field of
study, needs a variety of journals that will open up the field to a
wide variety of international perspectives. Because of David's death,
we feel a new drive to make his dream of the Review of Disability
Studies a reality.

Our first issue of RDS will be dedicated to David and will include the
last article that he wrote, reflecting on the history of disability
studies, especially for the launching of the journal. The issue is due
out in mid January, and the first issue will be available free on the
web at www.rds.hawaii.edu

We at CDS look forward to seeing rememberances of David and hope that you
will also honor him by supporting RDS as a valuable addition to the field of
disability studies.

Addendum: we welcome participation by all of you in RDS by
serving as peer reviewers, evaluators, submitters and subscribers. For
subscriptions and advertisments, email rds@cds.hawaii.edu . For
submissions and to serve as a reviewer/evaluator, email
submissions_rds@cds.hawaii.edu .
