The Media and disability

The media and disability. I warned you I would vent about this topic. My friend tells me there is a yahoogroup whose sole purpose is to exchange ideas on how the media treats people with disabilities, and presumably suggest corrections to reporters, and editors. Actually I have several friends and other people I have met on that group. But I am not interested in lamenting and whining about misused labels; I don’t care what the media calls me, all I want is a job, a roof over my head, and food in my belly. If you didn’t know, the media has become the four branch of government. They do whatever the heck they want. I would say, the media is the most powerful component of our government. They have found so many ways to slant a story; it is hard to believe you’re reading the same story from paper to paper, or station to station. The media has become the opiate of the American people. This slogan appealed to me when I was a kid, but now that I'm old and experienced, I think it maligns opiates. Now more than ever, with people tearing each other up over the media and religion, I say, "Who needs it?"

I know, you don’t accept this thesis. So write your own piece.

Dominated by far right extremist like the druggie Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura Schlessinger the ex-porn Queen, and the others. All these people are born again conservatives. Hallelujah, brother. Welcome back from the Devil’s Den to God’s world. What I love about these prophets of the right is their Biblical devotion. They have more rules than Leviticus. God-damn it, they fear God. And rightfully so, remember they are born again. According to Leviticus they should be burnt as sin offering. That means their faith in the Lord was once lost, or maybe misplaced. They think they’re holier than thou. They are holier than my ass. My faith in the Lord has never wavered, not even when I lost the use of legs. These phony prophets of the right are tools of the devil to divide and conquer us.

The media is dominated by these religious zealots for a reason. They are just as fanatic and evil as Usama Bin Laden. All they want is to take us back to the good old days when people with disabilities were hidden in closets, cellar, or put in institutions. Yet even the Kennedys did it. They want to go back to the days when the good ol’ boys would get together after Church, have a drink, and hang the first Nigger they saw because they were white man, and white man ruled.

Well, those good ol’ days aren’t coming back. Not even with the halfwit they put in the White House: Their President. Another born again, who used to refer to women as pussys, went AWOL from his reserve unit, did cocaine, drove drunk, and would have failed out of college if not for Daddy hiring friends to write his papers. Great example of humanity this shithead is. He's the medias’ darling. Their Messiah. They love him, even after revelations of his lies, half-truths, and dumbness. They love him because he is one of them. Have you noticed when they find dirt on the administration it is quickly dropped by the media? Do you remember how long we heard about Monica and her service to her President? I just wish I knew the master plan that Dick Cheney as cooked up. World domination? No way, South America is in revolt and so are the European, and Canadians. A subject for another ranting session.

Journalism and the media have lost much of esthetical sacred foundation with recent scandals in the New York Times, Fox News making-up stories, and other newspapers.

There is no way to beat the media, it takes a free media to secure freedom, but we don’t have a free media. News is paid for by large advertisers who are corporations, and corporations pay for political campaigns. So, you can connect the dots.

When Supreme Court Justice Anthony Scalia referred to George Lane of the fame Tennessee v Lane, as a “handicapped” it was no mistake. He was not expressing ignorance, which Justice Scalia is legendary for, he was expressing disdain. “How dare you cripples demand equal treatment?” Where was the outcry from liberals and the DRM? There was none. If Justice Scalia knows not to call a Black Person by the “N” word, he knows he should not call a person with a disability “a handicapped.”

So, we have no rights according to federalist Justices, and we have no rights in States according to Attorney Generals. Who is pointing this out to the community? No one. Who is fighting this in the media? No one.

Where is NCIL, and all those other wonderful advocacy organizations in Washington, D.C., unheard from?

The media won’t hear them or listen to them, or pay any attention to them because they don’t believe there is a civil rights movement for PWD in this country. The argument has not been made. When we convince the fourth branch of government of our DRM, will get attention from idiots like Scalia. What a disgrace to the Italian heritage (which I am part of). What we need is a Pelican Brief scenario.
