Misleading

Have you noticed how many times a day you hear this word used in the media. Misleading is a misleading way to say you lied. But euphemisms are more politically correct. It has become a f**king epidemic of accusations of misleading, or f--- it, lying. And it is not because we have a Presidential Campaign going on. Misleading has been used from the Michael Jackson child abuse allegations, to Martha Stewart, to the Passion. Everything is misleading.

The problem is not that the media has found a new word, or a substitute for an old one. It is an attempt to, well…mislead us.

Instead of using the  motherf--- ing word  lie, and has no credibility, we use misleading. Even commercials are misleading. Have you seen the Prilosec OTC commercial with the couple in the huge bus? You know the original “Heartburn Couple.” The commercial is downright a lie. Prilosec OTC does not start working for four days after you start taking it and it says so on the box. But in the commercial, the white Honky couple, as my friend would call them, lied to a black woman in the supermarket.

We now have the government of the great Liar himself, has been caught misleading the public with an ad which the General Accounting Office calls “propaganda.” Which is illegal.  Hold it, hold it. How come the Bush campaign (and Kerry campaign) can lie to the American public and it is misleading, but the phony commercial is “propaganda.” And it is being investigated. The Bush Administration has a long history of lying. Just plain not telling the truth. Hey, that’s how we got in this fix to begin with; The War.

In all fairness, President Bush is not the only President to lie to the American Public. We have Bill Clinton’s famous “I did not have sexual relations with that woman…” pronouncement. But shit, he was lying to his wife about a blow job. Every guy does that. And of course there is Richard Nixon’s, “Your President is no crook.” He was!

But lying about weapons of mass destruction to get us into a useless war, where thousands of people have died, that is criminal. Martha Stewart is going to jail for few years for lying to the FBI, about an issue which could not be proofed, but George Bush lies to us everyday, people die everyday, and the media calls it misleading.

This administration has no shame. The day after he, the President, proposed to cut assistance for combat duty to our soldiers in his war, he went to and Army base to sell his campaign to the same people he proposes to screw. Check out his budget. Support our guys and write to congress. Bring them home, and stop misleading the public that we are going to set up an Islamic Jeffersonian democracy.

People with disabilities are not any different. They are easily misled. I know more people with disabilities that are Republicans, then Democrats or Independent.  This is the reason we get screwed. Many of us are a part of them. The same people, who want to cut our services, want to destroy the ADA, and want us all to die and go away.

Of course, with the great media on his side, the outcome is not looking too good.  But the only hope in this whole thing is that the great media has been hit with scandals of “misleading,” and “creating the news.” Recently, the New York Times’ Jayson Blair and Michael Finkel, Stephen Glass of the New Republic, and most recently USA Today’s former star war correspondent Jack Kelley, made headlines after they were accused of fabricating sources and quotes. They lost their jobs and gained overnight notoriety for compromising journalistic standards.

I want to lead you in on something: how do you know I am not misleading you?
